Newsbriefs
PIAA Newsbriefs is a weekly electronic newsletter for PIAA members.  Newsbriefs summarizes a selection of headline articles for professionals with an interest in medical professional liability insurance—from a national, local, international, and industry perspective.  It also includes member news and updates on events and activities in the PIAA.

Data Sharing Report*
Every six months, the PIAA analyzes data captured by its Data Sharing Project to develop a national overview of claim trends to identify the areas of practice that are particularly vulnerable to liability.  The semi-annual PIAA Data Sharing Report provides more than 400 pages of detailed medical professional liability claims data.

Claims Trend Analysis*
The Claims Trend Analysis is designed as a tool for insurance company personnel and to educate healthcare practitioners regarding nationwide medical liability payment trends.  It includes the most relevant, useful, and comprehensive information from a large number of claims, and reports these claims according to criteria such as year, medical specialty, severity of patient injury, and alleged medical error.  The PIAA Claims Trend Analysis is published annually, and it is based on annual and total-year information, as reported to the PIAA Data Sharing System since 1985.

Risk Management Review*
The Risk Management Review is a valuable risk management tool for educating healthcare practitioners on nationwide risk trends for medical specialty groups.  The Risk Management Review is structured in the form of 26 individual reports.  The reports are published annually and contain annual and total-year information reported to the PIAA Data Sharing Project since 1985.

Research Studies and White Papers
The PIAA uses data gleaned from its Data Sharing Project to create white papers, research studies, and other analytical reports.  Recently published studies include the Breast Cancer Study, Colorectal Cancer Claims Study, Lung Cancer Claims Study, and Medication Errors Symposium White Paper.

Research Notes
Research Notes is an electronic quarterly newsletter for risk management and claims professionals.  The content of Research Notes is based on the PIAA Research Department analysis of claims data that identifies key trends of importance for improving patient safety.  This newsletter also provides research-based risk management strategies for minimizing potential liability.  Research Notes is a member-only publication.
