Today's PIAA

Today, the PIAA is the nation's premier medical professional liability insurance trade association.  It delivers value to its membership through the following programs and services:

• Federal Advocacy
  The PIAA is the authoritative industry advocate for federal medical professional liability reforms, and speaks for its members on patient safety, regulatory, and privacy legislation introduced in Congress.
• Regulatory Affairs
  The PIAA represents its member companies before regulatory bodies, such as the NAIC. The Association works with financial rating agencies, to represent the unique interests of medical professional liability insurers.
• Risk Management and Research
  The PIAA maintains the world’s largest medical professional liability research database—storing information on more than 274,000 medical and dental claims and suits. The database is a rich resource for identifying the underlying causes in medical liability claims.  Standard reports, publications, and custom analyses are available to augment member companies’ risk management efforts and to assist the public with research studies.
• Meetings and Education
  The PIAA is the best source for professional education and networking within the medical professional liability insurance industry.  A wide range of meetings, covering the diverse operational areas of an insurance company, are offered each year.  The PIAA is accredited for professional continuing education credits for physicians, dentists, and accountants.
• Communications
  The PIAA’s quarterly magazine, Physician Insurer, is the leading industry-wide authoritative source of information on medical professional liability insurance issues, public policy, technology, research, and trends. The PIAA website, www.piaa.us, offers public relations tools, including white papers and studies.
• Membership
